About the GSI Campus Living Lab
The University of Arizona demonstrates its commitment to sustainable and nature-based solutions to combat climate change and water scarcity with the installation of over 100 green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) features sprinkled across campus. These features support a tapestry of landscapes and diverse vegetation, and often go unnoticed as functional designs capable of harvesting xxx gallons of rainwater each year. This exceptional amount of rainwater helps reduce University of Arizona's reliance on precious potable water sources and creates resilient green spaces to explore.
The goal of this initiative is to create a Living Lab on campus to expand student experiential learning, enhance research capacity, and create partnerships across disciplinary boundaries to fill critical gaps in green stormwater infrastructure design and ecological performance. This initiative reaches across four colleges and engages with ten different courses, from introductory to advanced undergraduate courses and graduate courses, and welcomes new collaborations!
Commitment to Sustainability
This initiative not only demonstrates the University of Arizona's commitment to environmental stewardship, but also provides valuable learning opportunities for students and faculty, inspiring the next generation of eco-conscious leaders.
